Kai XR Futures is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes through equitable access to emerging technologies and teacher development. We strive to prepare students and educators for a rapidly evolving digital world, empowering them with the skills and resources to shape their futures.

Our Mission

We believe that where a child grows up should fuel, not limit, the size of their future. Through immersive technology, hands-on making, and deeply rooted community storytelling, we equip students, educators, and communities with the skills, confidence, and vision to shape what comes next. Through our initiatives, we aim to:

Bridge the digital divide for 3-8 students and educators.
Empower educators with professional development and instructional strategies.
Foster critical 21st-century skills including problem-solving, creativity, and digital literacy.
Prepare communities for success in an increasingly tech-driven world.

What We Do

Future-proof Rural America

Rural students are brimming with potential, and Future-Proof Rural America Project is designed to make sure they have every opportunity to realize it. The project supports impact-forward schools with AI literacy, digital skills, and immersive learning to 3rd–8th graders during the critical window when STEM identity is formed and enthusiasm for learning runs high.

To ensure the learning lasts, we identify and coach Impact Educators within the schools to lead confident, locally responsive tech integration, so the technology becomes a living part of the school community. Together, we are helping rural students build the skills, identity, and ambition to innovate right where they are and to thrive in the careers of tomorrow.

Storymakers Project

Every community holds stories worth sharing with the world. The Storymakers Project highlights overlooked local stories while equipping the next generation of diverse XR storytellers and makers. We put the tools of professional XR production into the hands of students, teachers, and families, partnering them with industry storytellers to research, film, and produce virtual reality field trips that bring vibrant local histories to life.

The VR experiences are then shared with schools and communities nationwide, amplifying voices and visions far and wide.

Future-Ready Communities

Learning goes beyond the school classroom. Future-Ready Communities brings people of all ages together through virtual and in-person workshops that connect hands-on making with real-world possibilities.

Future-Ready Communities support after-school programs, summer camps, libraries, and community centers. Our ecosystem approach provides a connected learning environment for students and communities that reinforce learning and skill-building.

Transforming Education in Alabama’s Rural Black Belt Region

Kai XR Futures is proud to partner with forward-thinking funders like The Caring Foundation of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama to address the educational needs of underserved communities. One of our key initiatives is the rural Black Belt in Perry County, Alabama, where we’re working to close the digital divide and empower both educators and students with future-ready tools and skills.
